A sports complex in Pulaski County that’s been underway for a couple years will be completed sometime in 2018, according to Fred Love, the county’s director of community services.
The county originally opened the bidding process to construct the College Station Sports Complex in February 2017.
The site is on Little Rock Port Industrial Park acreage on the north side of Sloane Drive, about 0.3 miles west of Mauney Road, according to a Little Rock ordinance that rezoned the land.
Included in the original site plans were Tee-Ball and pony league fields that can be converted into a football field. An additional ball field and bleacher seats were included in the plans.
The original request for bids, put out by Pulaski County, called for 9,600 cubic yards of work to be done. It came in over budget, Love said.
The scope of work was adjusted to about 5,700 cubic yards of work to construct concrete sidewalks, dugouts, landscaping, fencing, a backstop and drainage work.

That contract bidding period closed Feb. 13.
Love told the Quorum Court that evening that after securing the contractor, it should take anywhere from 90 to 120 days to complete construction.
“The sports complex should be up and going this year,” he told the court.
At least $361,000 in grant funds has been appropriated for the project, county ordinances show.
Love told the Quorum Court the largest portion of the money came from the state Department of Parks and Tourism.
A $25,000 grant also was provided recently by the company 3M. The complex is a passion project of Justice of the Peace Judy Green.
