Bobby Bones, a radio host from Arkansas, is set to appear as a mentor to contestants on ABC’s revival of singing competition American Idol this spring.

“I will be the mentor to all the top 24 contestants. And I appreciate you guys for letting it happen,” Bones, host of iHeartMedia’s syndicated country music program The Bobby Bones Show, wrote Wednesday on Twitter.

According to the radio broadcast’s website, Bones will “share his expertise and advise on all areas of being an artist,” including stage presence, public image and artist branding.

Last year, Bones, a Mountain Pine native, became the youngest inductee into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

American Idol is set to return at 7 p.m. March 11 on ABC. In Little Rock, viewers can watch on KATV-TV, Channel 7.

At least one Arkansan, 18-year-old Noah Davis, is set to compete on the show.
