BASEBALL: UALR beats UCA in 11; ASU gets home victory; Harding falls at Union

Catcher Kale Emshoff singled to start the 11th inning for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2-2), then scored on outfielder Marcus Ragan's single to right field to give the Trojans a 6-5 victory over the University of Central Arkansas (1-3) on Tuesday at Bear Stadium in Conway.

UALR took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a Troy Alexander RBI double and a two-run home run from Nick Perez. The lead grew to 5-0 in the second on an RBI triple from Chase Coker and an RBI sacrifice bunt from Ragan.

Josh Somdecerff hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second and Hunter Strong added a three-run double to cut the lead to 5-4 for UCA. William Hancock's home run in the bottom of the third tied the game at 5-5.

Emshoff and Matt Merino were both 3 for 5 to lead UALR, which finished with 14 hits. UCA had 8 hits, led by Somdecerff and Strong, who both went 2 for 4.

ASU gets home victory

Jacob Jablonski was hit by a pitch with a full count and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, giving Arkansas State University a 7-6 victory over Southeast Missouri State at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro.

The Redhawks built a 3-0 lead thanks to a sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Trevor Ezell, as well as a home run from Wade Stauss. The Red Wolves got single runs in the third and fourth innings, then tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth when Kyle MacDonald scored on an RBI triple by Logan Anderson, who scored on the play because of a throwing error.

ASU scored single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to extend the lead to 6-4 before SEMO tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the ninth on a two-run double by Ezell.

Tobias Johnson was 3 for 4, while Anderson went 2 for 3 to lead Arkansas State, which finished with 11 hits.

Harding falls at Union

Union had 22 hits, including four home runs and 11 extra-base hits, in a 15-8 victory over Harding University on Tuesday in Jackson, Tenn.

David Robins led Union (4-6) by going 3 for 4 with a double and a home run. Caleb DeMarigny went 3 for 5 with a double. Five players had two hits for Union and four others had three hits.

Harding (5-6) was led by Chris Taylor, who went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI and a home run.

Jackson Ward (1-1) took the loss for Harding, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits in the first 2 innings.
