Wreck on Arkansas highway kills 47-year-old man

A 47-year-old Arkansas man died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday, authorities said.

The wreck happened about 3:10 p.m. on Arkansas 25 at its intersection with 5 Mile Road in Cleburne County, according to a preliminary report.

Arkansas State Police say Timothy Turney of Batesville was driving a 2004 Hyundai north on the highway in Drasco and failed to yield to a southbound 2003 Chevrolet while making a left turn onto 5 Mile Road.

Turney reportedly suffered fatal injuries. Two more people were said to be hurt, though the report didn't provide any details about the individuals or the extent of their injuries.

Authorities said conditions were wet and cloudy at the time of the wreck.

At least 39 people have died in traffic crashed on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
