Affidavit: 68-year-old Arkansan beaten, robbed by her daughter, granddaughter

A mother and daughter in Arkansas face felony charges after a 68-year-old woman was beaten and robbed in her home in January, according to an affidavit filed earlier this month.

The victim is the mother of 49-year-old Cherie Rene Souza and the grandmother of 29-year-old Lisa Marie Holmes, court records show.

On Jan. 27, Souza and Holmes forced their way into the Cherokee Village home, the probable cause affidavit states. Neither of the women were welcome there, the victim told authorities, but "charged" her when she opened the door to see who it was.

The pair shoved her over the couch and punched her in the face repeatedly when she was on the floor, then extinguished a lit cigarette on her face and took her cellphone, the affidavit states.

Souza and Holmes are charged with second-degree domestic battery, property theft, criminal trespassing and aggravated residential burglary, records show.
