John Paul Keith, along with opening act Mark Edgar Stuart, will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at White Water Tavern in Little Rock. Admission is $7.

Stuart, a Pine Bluff native who now lives in Memphis, has been the bassist in Keith's backing band, and others, and now headlines his own shows.

Keith, who grew up in Knoxville, Tenn., has been playing and recording throughout Memphis and the Southeast for more than a dozen years. The singer-songwriter-guitarist has released four albums either as a solo act or with his band The One Four Fives -- Spills and Thrills in 2009, Live at The Hi-Tone in 2010, The Man That Time Forgot in 2011 and Memphis Circa 3AM in 2013.

Keith, who appears on a recent tribute album, Red Hot: A Memphis Celebration of Sun Records, (proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital), is prominently featured in noted writer Robert Gordon's A Boy From Tupelo: A Short Film, which features interviews and photos of Elvis Presley's early days on Sun Records. Keith also is a member of a Memphis duo Motel Mirrors with Amy LaVere.

Stuart discovered his own songwriting ability while recovering from treatment for lymphoma and chemotherapy. He is known for his albums Blues for Lou in 2013 and Trinity My Dear in 2015 and his songs "Remote Control," "Arkansas Is Nice," "Yardsale Weirdo" and "Don't Blame Jesus."
