83-year-old Arkansas man killed when vehicle veers off wet road, strikes fence

An 83-year-old Arkansas man was killed Thursday night when the car he was driving veered off a wet road and struck a fence, authorities said.

William James Lundberg of Hot Springs was driving west on Rockport Lane in Hot Springs in a 2015 Hyundai Elantra when the car traveled off the road around 8:10 p.m., according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The Elantra then struck a fence. Lundberg died as a result of the crash, authorities said.

Conditions were rainy at the time of the wreck, the report states.

Lundberg's death was one of at least 40 on Arkansas roads the year, according to preliminary state police data.
