Flu vaccine will be available at LR site

The Arkansas Department of Health announced Thursday that it will give out flu vaccines Saturday at the Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock.

The vaccine clinic will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school at 1200 President Clinton Ave.

Patients should bring health insurance information, the department said in a news release. For people who have insurance, the department will charge the insurance plan but the patient will not have to pay anything. For people with no insurance, the shot will be provided at no charge.

As of Tuesday, 159 Arkansans had died from the flu this season, which has been the state's deadliest in at least 17 years.

The season is expected to last another eight to 10 weeks. People older than 6 months who haven't gotten the shot yet should get one, even if they have already had the flu, the department said.
