FRIDAY'S STARS

There were no multiple winners among jockeys and trainers, but leading jockey Ricardo Santana and leading trainer Brad Cox each won a race Friday to maintain their leads in the jockey and trainer standings at Oaklawn Park. Santana won the 10th race, riding Taylor's Sense ($6.20) to a 1 3/4-length victory over Bow Ready. Taylor Sense's winning time was 1:49.91 in the 1 1/16-mile race. On the season, Santana has 24 victories in 121 starts and leading David Cabrera by two victories. Cox won the sixth race Friday with Ma'am ($4). Ma'am's winning time was 1:46.88 in the 1 1/16-mile race. On the season, Cox has 17 victories in 47 starts. He leads Steve Asmussen by two victories.

MORE PETROV?

Petrov will be considered for a return to stakes action following his comeback victory in Sunday's eighth race at Oaklawn, an allowance/optional claiming sprint, co-owner/trainer Ron Moquett of Hot Springs said.

Making his 4-year-old debut, Petrov recorded a 1¼-length victory under Richard Eramia, covering 6 furlongs over a muddy surface in 1:11.71. Petrov paid $6.40 as the 2-1 second choice.

"It was very impressive," Moquett said. "He came out of the race very happy. We'll evaluate and see what's there."

Moquett said he will "probably" stretch out Petrov, but whether that's in a two-turn race at Oaklawn or out of town hasn't been decided, adding it could be in a stakes race.

Oaklawn's next two-turn stake for older horses is the $300,000 Essex Handicap on March 17. Moquett already has Whitmore pointed for the $125,000 Hot Springs Stakes for older sprinters March 10.
