5A-CENTRAL GIRLS

Duo carry load during final victory

A junior and a freshman played like seniors for Little Rock Christian on Friday night.

Junior guard Reagan Bradley and freshman forward Wynter Rogers each scored 29 points as the Lady Warriors won the 5A-Central Conference girls tournament championship game with a 69-46 victory over Beebe at Maumelle High School.

Little Rock Christian (28-2) will be the 5A-Central's No. 1 seed in next week's Class 5A state tournament.

Rogers had a team-high 10 rebounds and Bradley added six boards to help Little Rock Christian clinch one of four No. 1 seeds in Class 5A for the state tournament, which will also be at Maumelle.

Behind Bradley's 17 points and Rogers' 14 points in the first half, the Lady Warriors led 37-21 at halftime, shooting 15 of 28 from the floor.

"Having those two is definitely a blessing for us," Little Rock Christian Coach Ronald Rogers, who is Wynter's father, said. "Their hard work and the things that they do every day, you can tell it on the floor. Those two make my job a lot easier. It makes everybody else's job around them a lot easier, also.

"That's a nice one-two punch to have."

Beebe (20-10), which advanced to Friday's conference championship game by defeating second-seeded Little Rock Parkview 54-44 on Thursday in a semifinal game, had no answer for Little Rock Christian's duo of Bradley and Rogers on Friday.

"Reagan just handles the ball so well," Beebe Coach Greg Richey said. "It's hard for guards to stay with her. Wynter, she's just a big kid. She's a freshman, but she's the real deal. She's a good player. We had a hard time matching up with her inside."

Little Rock Christian shot 26 of 50 overall from the floor. Beebe was 17-of-39 shooting.

The Lady Warriors led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 23-9 with 6:42 left in the second quarter. But Beebe pulled within 25-14 on junior guard Marianna Richey's three-point play.

Little Rock Christian stretched its lead to 35-19 with less than a minute left in the first half on Rogers' jumper with an assist from Bradley.

Little Rock Christian led 58-40 at the end of the third quarter.

Senior forward Katie Turner led Beebe with 16 points. Marianna Richey had 14 points, hitting 3 three-pointers, while senior guard Libbie Hill added 10 points.
