Where I live: A little wood-frame bungalow built in the 1950s on a quiet street in the Riverdale neighborhood of Little Rock.

Occupation: Salesperson and buyer for Ozark Outdoor Supply in Little Rock. I'm an expert on equipment for hiking and backpacking and have taught many workshops on how easy it is to get started, in parks around the state. I'm especially delighted to help women embrace the outdoors and to hear all their fun stories.

My favorite space is: My bedroom.

Why? It is the smallest bedroom in the house, but I love it because it allows me to look outside into my backyard. Watching how the morning sun moves into the yard is a warm and welcoming way to start the day. The bamboo that borders my property is relaxing to watch sway in the wind. And in the winter, grackles live in the bamboo to keep us company. In the springtime, we can see the bamboo sprout from the soil up to 30 feet in the air. The room itself is brightly painted to mimic the leaves of the bamboo and is warm and cozy. I share the space with my husband, Shaun, and my two geriatric puppies, Lobo and WeeBit. It's a cozy refuge for us all.

If I could change one thing about this space I would: Add a fireplace and French doors that would lead to my porch in the backyard.
