DECADE OF SUCCESS: Auxiliary celebrates 10 years with staff, guests at luncheon

The Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled Auxiliary celebrated 10 years of accomplishments with a luncheon on Feb. 8 at the agency's Multi-Purpose center near downtown Little Rock.

Members and guests partook of a buffet lunch catered by Flavors and received thank-you gifts that included candles from the AEDD Candle Co., which up until last year yielded hand-poured candles produced at the Lacy Landers Skills Training Center.

Debbie Grooms, director of development, was master of ceremonies. Members were asked to introduce invited guests.

Along with special introductions and recognition was a financial report that revealed that the organization has raised nearly $1 million over the decade. A slide show chronicled the auxiliary's work, which has included helping with monthly activities for adults served by Arkansas Enterprises; hosting annual lunches for staff members as well as providing a monthly snack day for them; sponsoring a float in the annual Little Rock Christmas parade; and supporting special activities, including Camp Runnamuck and creative and dramatic arts programs.

The group has raised money via these annual events: the Razorback-themed Hawgs for a Cause in the fall and, in late spring, the variety stage show Curtain Call for a Cause, which will become a two-night event this year.
