APAC-Central wins award
The National Asphalt Pavement Association awarded APAC-Central Inc. of Fayetteville a 2017 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in asphalt pavement construction. The company received its award Feb. 14 during the association's 63rd annual meeting in San Diego.
APAC-Central Inc., an Oldcastle Materials Co., won the award for its work on 5.3 miles of Interstate 49 in Rogers. The project included the widening of the road to construct a third lane and milling and overlay of existing traffic lanes.
The company worked behind a concrete barrier until the final paving, but had to enter and leave the project site from the left lanes of the interstate. Mill and overlay operations had to be done at night, with all milled areas repaved prior to being opened to traffic. APAC-Central Inc. produced the road in 11 months, 46 days ahead of schedule.
Murphy Business opens Bentonville office
Murphy Business & Financial Corp. LLC, a full-service business brokerage firm with more than 170 offices in the United States and Canada, recently announced the opening of a Bentonville office. The business offers a full range of services and support for local business owners seeking professional brokerage counsel.
Scott Belden launched the new office, which will support entrepreneurs with the sale of their businesses, purchases, valuations and mergers and acquisitions. This is Belden's second location.
Prior to his work with Murphy Business, Belden owned and operated Russell Belden Electric Co., which was founded by his late grandfather in 1929.
Mercy expands therapy services
Mercy held a blessing and ribbon cutting Wednesday to celebrate the quadrupling of space at Mercy Therapy Services at 1101 S. Horsebarn Road in Rogers. Totaling nearly 10,000 square feet, Mercy Therapy Services houses 11 providers, including six physical therapists. The space was renovated to add new treatment areas and equipment, wide-open exercise spaces and curtained treatment rooms.
Mercy Therapy Services previously occupied about 2,500 square feet in the building, which was shared with Mercy Clinic Orthopedics. Orthopedics is now in a new clinic around the corner at 1000 S. 52nd St.
Two other Mercy Therapy Services locations are at 24 Sugar Creek Center in Bella Vista and at 3101 S.E. 14th St. in Bentonville. Mercy's staff working at the three locations include 17 physical therapists, 12 physical therapist assistants, two occupational therapists and three speech therapists in addition to part-time therapists and those who work on an as-needed basis.
Eldridge Brooks law firm opens
Conner Eldridge and Steve Brooks announced the launch of their law firm, Eldridge Brooks, which will be based in Northwest Arkansas and will serve clients in Arkansas, Texas and across the country.
Eldridge Brooks will focus on individuals and businesses with a variety of legal needs, including corporate matters, private equity, real estate, corporate and government investigations, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, securities, federal and state regulation and white collar criminal defense.
Brooks' experience includes over a decade as an attorney and partner with Arkansas' largest law firm, five years working with a leading Arkansas-based regional firm as a certified public accountant, and, most recently, serving as partner and counsel with NewRoad Capital Partners, a venture capital and growth equity investment firm based in Northwest Arkansas.
Eldridge served as U.S. attorney for the western district of Arkansas, CEO of Summit Bank and Summit Bancorp Inc., and, most recently, ran for the U.S. Senate in 2016.
