Henderson State Wind Ensemble Concert

ARKADELPHIA — The Henderson State University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Steven M. Knight, will present its first concert of the spring semester at 7:30 p.m. in Henderson’s Arkansas Hall Auditorium, 1118 Henderson St. The program, titled American Voices, will feature works by Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Julie Giroux, Donald Grantham and David Maslanka. Hot Springs Village Genealogical Society

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Genealogical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in Room 6 of the Coronado Community Center. Speaker Barbara Pinkney will present Below the Stairs: Resources for Finding Ancestors Who Were Apprentices, Indentured Servants or Redemptioners. The group’s general meeting is on the first Thursday of each month. A monthly breakfast meeting takes place at 9 a.m. the third Thursday at Debra’s Restaurant on Carmona Road. Have a HeART for Art Competition

HOT SPRINGS — The 10th annual and final Have a HeART for Art competition will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Emergent Arts Building, 341 Whittington Ave. The art will remain on display through March 11. The event was created by Nancy and David Bartlett in memory of their daughter and Lakeside High School graduate Michelle Bartlett, who died in 2003 with an undetected heart condition at the age of 23. The contest is open to public, private and home-school students. Two submissions per grade per school are selected by faculty and submitted for competition and exhibition at the event.

Miss OBU Scholarship Pageant

Sources of Evangelical Spirituality Exhibit

ARKADELPHIA — The Ouachita Baptist University Department of Visual Arts will host guest artist Matt Smith, assistant professor of art at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, in an exhibit titled Sources of Evangelical Spirituality on Thursday through March 28 in the second-floor Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery of Ouachita’s Moses-Provine Hall. Blind Date With a Book

ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State University’s Huie Library is presenting a Blind Date With a Book event to match patrons with the perfect book. Anyone with a Henderson library card can participate. A display in the library offers a variety of books from which to choose. Each book includes a “Rate Your Date” that can be turned in at the circulation desk as an entry to win a $10 Starbucks gift card. LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is offering students free copies of a coloring book, Exploring Arkansas’s Wonder: An Adventure in Historic Preservation, that highlights sites around the state that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Justus Fine Art Gallery February Exhibit

Merry Mixers Dance Club

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Merry Mixers Dance Club dances to live music the third Saturday of each month at the Coronado Community Center. There is something for everyone, including ballroom, swing, Latin, rock and country music. Dancers are asked to bring their own snacks, and there is a cash bar. Ageless Bikers Club

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Ageless Bikers Club has 10 different bike rides that are 16 to 35 miles long. The rides are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays on quiet paved country roads (one ride has up to 3 miles of gravel). No one is left behind, and the group stops often to regroup and socialize. Several rides are “out and back,” so the beginner can turn back for a shorter ride. Free Exercise Classes

ARKADELPHIA — The Central Arkansas Development Council’s Arkadelphia Senior Activity Center invites the public to a free Zumba class at 11 a.m. every Wednesday at the center, 1305 N. 10th St. The class, taught by a local fitness instructor, is geared for seniors ages 60 and older.
