CENTRAL ARKANSAS CHRISTIAN 71, RIVERVIEW 56

LONOKE -- Central Arkansas Christian took advantage of six three-pointers in the first quarter and eight overall, helping the Lady Mustangs to a 24th consecutive victory by taking down Riverview 71-56.

Christyn Williams and freshman forward Bethany Dillard provided all the firepower CAC (33-1) needed. Riverview (24-9) lost for the third time this season to CAC.

"Christyn played pretty well," CAC Coach Steve Quattlebaum said. "It wasn't one of her best games -- she missed more than usual -- but when whe needed a basket she got us one."

Dillard made 3 three-pointers as CAC opened an 11-3 lead.

Abbie Jiles scored two three-pointers for Riverview as it closed to within 16-12 with 1:24 left in the first quarter.

Williams hit her first three-pointer with 1:17 remaining, then added another with 24 seconds left, giving CAC a 22-12 lead after eight minutes.

Riverview narrowed the lead in the second quarter as CAC was trading two-point field goals for the Lady Raiders' three-point shots, leading to a 33-28 lead for the Lady Mustangs at the half.

"The Riverview kids never quit," Quattlebaum said. "We get it out to 10 and back they would come. They did that several times."

Riverview narrowed the CAC lead to one with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter, but three field goals from Williams gave the edge back to the Lady Mustangs at 48-41 after three quarters.

Two free throws and a field goal from Williams and a field goal by Dillard increased the lead to 55-41 before Jiles scored five points quickly, narrowing the lead to 55-46 with 6:08 left. Two minutes later she picked up her fifth foul, then Williams hit three quick field goals for a 65-48 lead with 2:42 left.

Williams had a game-high 36 points while Dillard added 26 for CAC. Ebonee Whitney led Riverview with 29 while Jiles had 17.
