Jay R. Ferguson in Living Biblically

These days, many television shows and movies portray the devout as crazy or out of touch with reality. So it's refreshing to see a series that handles the topic of biblical living with respectful humor. Case in point is the new CBS series Living Biblically, which premieres at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The sitcom is based on the book The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. It stars Jay Ferguson as journalist Chip, who decides, after his best friend's death, to start living his life 100 percent by the Bible to find direction. Although there are jokes and innuendos bandied about, the overall tone is respectful of the subject and those who also seek to live by the Bible.

Lindsey Kraft plays Chip's wife, Leslie, who is pregnant, snarky and skeptical. Camryn Manheim, Ian Gomez, Tony Rock, Sara Gilbert and David Krumholtz also star.
