SPRINGDALE -- More than 5 inches of rain in Northwest Arkansas over the past week led to the closing of several roads and bridges in Benton and Washington counties Saturday.

As of Saturday afternoon, the following Benton County roads were closed: Anzack Road, Benson Road, Bill Billings Road, Chamber Springs Road, Coon Hollow Road, Fisher Ford Road, Gene Law Road, Gooseberry Road, Haden Road, Holloway Road between U.S. 71 and Bella Vista, Kincheloe Road, Limekiln Road near Mount Olive Road, Parrick Road, Pearl Road, Pierce Road, Mill Dam Road, Pritchard Road, Rocky Dell Road, Shinn Springs Road, Snavely bridge on Snavely Road and West Point Road, according to the Benton County Division of Public Safety Facebook page.

Road crews closed off the roads with either barricades or flags to discourage traffic, according to Michael Waddle, deputy director of Benton County Emergency Management.

"We will have road crews out Sunday to start on any repair," said Michael Waddle, deputy director of Benton County emergency management. "Roads will likely stay closed Sunday until we can assess them better or waters recede. If you can't see the bottom of the road, it's probably not safe. The road or bridge could be compromised or there could be dangerous debris."

Kelly Cantrell, Washington County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said Saturday afternoon Sbannoto Avenue, Harvey Dowell Road, Pin Oak Road, Blue Mountain Road, Goose Creek Road and the bridge on Washington County 415 were closed.

Storms moved out of Northwest Arkansas by Saturday afternoon and more rain isn't expected until Tuesday, according to National Weather Service in Tulsa, Okla.
