Arkansas State University released its 2018 football schedule Tuesday afternoon.

The Red Wolves open the season Sept. 1 at home against Southeast Missouri State, which ASU beat at home 21-3 when they last played on Sept. 13, 2003.

ASU will travel to play the defending national champions, Alabama, on Sept. 8. The teams have only played twice, and the Crimson Tide won both meetings (34-7 in 1982; 35-0 in 2008).

Sun Belt Conference play begins Sept. 29, when the Red Wolves play at Georgia Southern. ASU opened conference play at Georgia Southern last season, and the Red Wolves won 43-35 before finishing the season 7-5 (6-2 Sun Belt) with a 35-30 loss to Middle Tennessee State in the Camellia Bowl.
