Rachmaninoff et al.

The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's Quapaw String Quartet -- Meredith Maddox Hicks and Charlotte Crosmer, violins; Ryan Mooney, viola; and David Gerstein, cello -- will play the String Quartet No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, 7 p.m. today at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, part of the orchestra's River Rhapsodies Chamber Music Series.

Hicks; Alisa Coffey, harp; Carolyn Brown, flute; Tze-Ying Wu, viola; and Ethan Young, cello, will play the Quintet for Harp, Flute, Violin, Viola, and Cello by Jean Cras. And the program will wrap up with the Divertimento No. 11 in D major, K.251, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Hager lecture

Jenna Bush Hager, one of the twin daughters of former President George W. Bush, an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine and a contributing correspondent for NBC's Today show, will give a lecture at 7:30 p.m. today in Reynolds Performance Hall, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway.

Hager's lecture will cover growing up in the White House and traveling to Latin America in 2006 as an intern with UNICEF, which inspired her to write a book, Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope, about a single mother, 17, with HIV who struggles to shield her child from the life she had of abuse and neglect.

Dance workshop

April 13 is the deadline to register for North Little Rock High School Theatre Dance students' 17th annual Elementary Dance Workshop, 9 a.m.-noon April 21, North Little Rock High School Performing Arts Center, 101 W. 22nd St., North Little Rock. There are slots available for 60 area preschool and elementary students, each assigned to a high school dance student. The students will learn a dance that allows them to be featured in the high school's spring dance concert, 6:30 p.m. May 3. (Tickets are $8, $6 for students and senior citizens.) Workshop fee is $35 (cash only, please) and includes dance instruction, snacks, T-shirt (to be worn in the dance concert), rehearsal notes and music. 'Key' gift

The University of Central Arkansas in Conway has received a $100,000 gift from Jimmy and Sara Hendricks Batcheller, class of 2002, toward the university's Steinway Initiative, a commitment to becoming an "All-Steinway School." UCA has 19 eligible pianos, including a Steinway A bought with the Batchellers' gift, and needs 26 more; the university and UCA Foundation have raised more than $750,000 toward a goal of $2.4 million. 'Spring Bizarre'

Fayetteville-based Cattywampus Co-Op is seeking Arkansas and regional artists, craftsmen and makers for its inaugural Little Rock art and crafts show, the "Spring Bizarre," 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May 19 at the Blue Canoe Brewing warehouse, 1637 E. 15th St., Little Rock. Artists, including and especially "bizarre and eclectic creators," should submit applications by March 19 via gocattywampus.com. Selection of vendors will be based on "originality, creativity and diversity of products," according to a news release. The event will feature up to 100 vendors, food trucks, music, Blue Canoe beer, a photo booth, kids' activities and an after-party. Admission is free. Email chad@big-bot.com.
