Salute feathered things that fly as Pinnacle Mountain State Park celebrates National Bird Day with crafts, activities and programs, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Admission is free. On Saturday, there are two chances to observe the birds in their natural habitat with Eagle Lake Cruises, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cost is $15, $8 for children 6-12; registration and advance payment are required. The Arkansas Arts Council's 2018 Small Works on Paper exhibit opens today at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. Ninth St., Little Rock, and continues through Jan. 27. • This is the last weekend to take in the annual Collectors Show and Sale at the Arkansas Arts Center in MacArthur Park, East Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock. The collection of drawing and contemporary works from New York galleries continues through Sunday. Admission is free and artwork prices range from less than $500 to $85,000. Arkansas Shorts -- A Night of Short Film showcases short films (10 minutes or less) by natives and current residents of Arkansas, 4 p.m. Saturday at the Malco Theater, 817 Central Ave., Hot Springs. Portrait photographer Thomas Petillo will snap pictures between screenings and the Malco will set up a cash bar. "The Power of Plastics: Reshaping Midcentury Fashion," nears the end of its run at ESSE Purse Museum, 1510 Main St., Little Rock. Sketch comedy trio The Main Thing -- Steve and Vicki Farrell and Bret Ihler -- are in the final two weeks of their seasonal show, A Fertle Holiday, 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and Jan. 12-13 at The Joint, 301 Main St., North Little Rock. The original two-act comedy chronicles the Fertle family's trouble-ridden holiday reunion in the tiny town of Dumpster, Ark., while attempting to entertain rich relatives from San Diego.
