Arkansan arrested after man found with multiple stab wounds, authorities say

A 22-year-old Arkansan has been arrested in the Thursday night stabbing of a man, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

About 11:40 p.m., officers found a man with stab wounds to his arm and stomach area inside a home in the 1100 block of South 25th Place in Rogers, according to a police report cited by the newspaper.

Officers reportedly followed a car driving away and found it abandoned near the intersection of South 24th Street and West Walnut Street.

Paul Michael Welch, 22, of Cave Springs, was later taken into custody, the newspaper reported. As of Friday morning, he was being held at the Benton County jail on a first-degree battery charge, records show. His bail had not yet been set.

The victim was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening at a nearby hospital, according to the newspaper.
