• A collegiate social fraternity Thursday became the most recent Negro organization to offer an endorsement of Superintendent Floyd W. Parson's desegregation plan. The Little Rock chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity made the endorsement at the fraternity's regular monthly meeting. Dr. Worthie L. Spinger Jr., chairman of the fraternity's education committee, said, "The group, although not in complete agreement with the plan, gave its approval and support of the plan as a beginning effort to solve a complex problem."

• A 35-year-old Little Rock man became the city's first homicide victim of 1993 late Monday when another man shot him in the chest after taking $3 and a bottle of beer. Police said Kenneth McKeever of 2316 State St. was shot in the heart about 10:50 p.m. Monday during the robbery at 24th and Gaines streets. A second man was shot two blocks away just minutes earlier in what police believe is a related shooting. John Jones, 29, of 3020 Fulton St. was listed in fair condition Tuesday night in University Hospital.

• A teenager who police said was attempting to rob a woman made it easier for police to find him: He left behind his cell phone. Barbara Pharis, 76, of Little Rock told police she was walking toward a beauty shop when a man came out of the shop, grabbed her purse and pushed her down. When officers arrived, they found a cell phone on the ground. It didn't belong to anyone at the scene, so officers looked through it and called the number listed as "Mama" in the phone's directory, police said. A woman who answered said the phone belonged to her 17-year-old son, Eric Johnson.
