LOWELL -- Construction of the U.S. 412 Northern Bypass will require lane closings on Interstate 49.
Weather permitting, lanes on I-49 will be closed between Wagon Wheel Road, Exit 76, in Springdale and Monroe Avenue, Exit 78, in Lowell from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.
The outside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49 will alternately be closed to allow the contractor to install overhead signs.
Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs. Traffic will be restored daily by 6 a.m.
The project is part of the department's Connecting Arkansas Program. The contractor is building about 4 miles of the four-lane bypass, which extends from I-49 to Arkansas 112. The project is expected to be completed mid-2018.
More information on the $100.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
