****PATTI PATTI PATTI has lost a late lead in consecutive second-pace finishes, and she has two-turn experience and drew an advantageous post position. SOPHIE’S ANGEL suffered a tough-luck defeat sprinting just two races back at Churchill, and blinkers off can produce an improved performance. WEST TEXAS CHROME has been forwardly placed in three sprint races, while competing in maiden allowance races at Remington, and she is bred to run at least this far.

**PRIMARILY GOLD followed a clear entry-level allowance victory with a second-place finish in an optional-claimer at Louisiana Downs, and he drops into restricted company, and trainer Al Cates saddled an upset winner Friday. ARCH REVENGE defeated state-bred maiden-allowance rivals last season at Oaklawn Park, and he is taking a significant drop in class following two solid races at Churchill. GUSKA MON SHOES was a winner following a similar layoff last January at Oaklawn, and the six-time local winner finished his 2017 campaign with good races at Canterbury.

***MIA D’ORO set an honest pace in a third-place two-turn effort at Churchill, and she has consistently earned the field’s fastest Beyer figures and represents powerful local connections. ESKIMO KISSES was beaten a diminishing neck in a two-turn debut at Keeneland and figures to bounce back after a slow start and disappointing effort at Churchill. LA DAME BLANCHE is another who following an encouraging career debut at Keeneland with a poor second start over a wet track at Churchill, and her local works have been good.

***BAETYKATY exits a front-running second-place finish in a stronger field of $25,000 claimers, and he is racing for high percentage trainer Robertino Diodoro for the first time, and he is a two-time winner at Oaklawn. ELECTRIC COWGIRL has put three good races in succession, including two minor stake-placings at Assiniboia Downs in Canada. Her Beyer figures are competitive and new trainer Ingrid Mason often moves a runner up. ZELLA ROSE was overmatched in her last start at Remington, but she is taking a big drop in class, and her best races were produced when previously trained by Karl Broberg.

**QUIETLY CUBA raced competitively in all three of his races in maiden-claiming company last season at Oaklawn, and he returns fresh with much swifter works than he recorded up to his 2017 debut. RICK’S STRYKER is an unraced 4-year-old with three encouraging workouts recorded at Oaklawn, and trainer Al Cates saddled a debut winner (Spotitude) Friday. ZACK RIDGE ROAD did not care for a route of ground, but his debut sprinting was a decent try against better, and he is dropping into a maiden-claimer for the first time.

***NUCLEAR OPTION has been vastly improved since claimed by trainer Ingrid Mason, and the quick sprinter has earned the fastest Beyer figures, and he shows some swift local works. INFINITY SQUARED broke his maiden last summer at Saratoga but six widening lengths, and he has every chance to be bigger and faster as a three-year-old. GRADE ONE crossed the wire only one position behind the top selection at Churchill, and he has a high percentage trainer-rider team.

****LEOFRIC was unbeaten in three races last season at Oaklawn Park, and he ships from New Orleans following a strong third-place stake finish. The pace figures fast enough to flatter his late run, and he scratched Saturday at Fair Grounds in favor of this race. UNCONTESTED splashed his way to an impressive victory in the 2017 Smarty Jones, but not convinced his game is defeating quality rivals at two turns. WARRIOR’S CLUB is a multiple stake-placed colt who exits a useful second-place stake finish at 7 furlongs, but he too seems to be more effective in sprint races.

PP HORSE;JOCKEY;TRAINER;ODDS

7 Leofric;De La Cruz;Cox;5-2

4 Our Track;Birzer;Sims;20-1

8 Purse $78,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, allowance optional claiming

***IVAN FALLUNOVALOT was full of run winning both starts at the recently concluded Remington Park meeting, and he is a multiple stake-winner at Oaklawn. The one-time claimer is nearing the $1 million mark in earnings. ST. JOE BAY was a Grade II winner last winter at Santa Anita, and his best Beyer figures are certainly fast enough, but he has not raced since two poor performances last summer at Del Mar. ROCKSHAW has not raced since April, but he convincingly won the Gazebo at Oaklawn and he has been working fast and often for his return.

PP HORSE;JOCKEY;TRAINER;ODDS

1 Ivan Fallunovalot;Quinonez;Howard;2-1

5 Bourbon Cowboy;De La Cruz;Contreras;30-1

9 Purse $28,000, 6 furlongs, fillies, 3-year-olds, maiden claiming $30,000

**PRINCESSOF THE NYL showed speed and potential in a third-place debut at Churchill, and she is dropping in class after an even effort at Keeneland, but fast recent works and the presence of Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens tips positive intent. LADY WARRIOR has contested the pace in twocompetitive high-priced maiden-claiming races in Kentucky, and she keeps his regular rider. MAHDIA is an unraced filly from a stable that excels with young horses, and she is a half-sister to four horses who have earned better than $100,000.

EXOTIC POSSIBILITIES

Two large fields make the early double worth playing, and the first race seems to have a single in Patti Patti Patti, and the second race is contentious and therefore several contenders are likely to be overlooked. The 50-cent Pick 3 beginning in the seventh race starts with a single for me with Leofric, and if Ivan Fallunovalot doesn’t win the eighth, it becomes wide open. So I will also single in the eighth. The ninth race is competitive and with two singles I’ll use three or four, depending on scratches and if Imaginary Image draws into the race.
