Trump torpedoed these discussions with several points including his caustic language regarding Africa and Haiti and his constant insistence on a wasteful wall that the majority of America is opposed to. Americans support DACA and while Trump may try to lay the blame on Democrats, they are just asking for a clean bill that meets the needs of those impacted.
...
It's very simple and Trump needs to understand that. He may claim to be the expert at deal making, but his track record in 2017 has proven otherwise. The tax reform bill passed ONLY after offering all sorts of candy to some Republican senators, not on the merits of the bill.

Cotton couldn't recall what the president said on Friday, but on Sunday he absolutely remembered that he didn't say it. What crap. Cotton is a moral and ethical coward who isn't fit for office. His position on immigration makes him seem nearly as xenophobic at Trump. The fact is that 80% of Americans support a DACA solution. Trump and Cotton knocked it down with that meeting in the oval office. The GOP is going to lose SO BIGLY in 2018.

Trump told Dreamers they had nothing to worry about and then ended DACA.
*
He claims to support protecting them, but instead is using them as nothing but leverage for his unnecessary and inefficient wall.
*
He rejected a bipartisan deal.
*
Who cannot see that they are to him just "rapists and criminals" (his words for people from Mexico) who need to be sent back to their sh*thole country?
*
About "they don't want security at the border." $30 billion dollars wasted on a foolish wall is not the same as "security at the border." Trump rejected a bipartisan deal to improve "security at the border."
*
Regarding "Senator Durbin has a history of misrepresenting what happens in White House meetings," Cotton said." Trump is documented at between five and six lies on average Every. Single. Day. and Cotton is a bought and sold shill. The people who believe Trump didn't say sh*tholes are the same ones who believed he would release his tax returns and his inauguration crowd was the largest.
*
About "But Paul called those accusations unfair and, instead, accused the media of going "completely bonkers with just ad hominem [attacks] on the president.." Ad hominem, eh? You mean they called him something like "sh*thole"?
*
Regarding "I do want to see an immigration compromise, and you can't have an immigration compromise if everybody out there is calling the president a racist," Paul told Meet the Press host Chuck Todd." Let me fix that for you:
"I do want to see an immigration compromise, and you can't have an immigration compromise i̶f̶ BECAUSE e̶v̶e̶r̶y̶b̶o̶d̶y̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶a̶l̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ the president is a racist". There. Fixed.

I have yet to hear liberals idea on how to secure the border.
Let every Mexican in and every 10 years grant amnesty?

You can't expect liberals to want any kind of border security when they favor protecting ILLEGALS with sanctuary cities.

DACA is just like the TPS program (Temporary Protective Status) the goal for Democrats is permanent placement in the U.S. "Delayed" or "Temporary" are just BS terms used to mislead. These are programs used by Democrats to import as many refugees from the third world as they can then fight to keep them permanently. One day politicians may learn If you offer incentives, benefits people will come by the millions. So their answer is pass a "Dream act" legalize millions of illegal aliens (DACA.) But they don't want to separate families..... so add another 1-2 million. Same with the TPS program.

Democrats, MSM, every faculty member at any university in the country fighting to the death for illegal aliens? they put a warm and fuzzy name on it "Dreamers."Democrats have actually changed the language. It's not illegal alien anymore its "Immigrant." They're not adults, they are "Kids" or "children." and no one seem to wonder why this obsession? future voters?

JOBS-There is an estimated 800,000 DACA recipients in the US. That is 800,000 jobs American Citizens don't have or will be in competition for.The MSM and Democrats would have us believe that all 800 thousand DACA and TPS are not taking jobs Americans want (we've heard that lie for many years now.) There not all picking strawberries they take great Jobs. Good enough jobs to buy homes put their kids through college. So when you hear of the "contributions by illegal aliens paying taxes." Remember that also is at a cost in jobs citizens should have. Why must the citizens of our country have competition for jobs, education in their own country from foreign nationals? Now Democrats and illegal alien activists admit DACA recipients have great jobs, are buying homes, paying taxes.

As for the Wall? Chuck and Nancy say it won't work. The Border Patrol says its mandatory if we want security. I'll go with the Border Patrol's advice.

Some" of the costs associated with illegal immigration....Dollars and Blood.

*The cost of educating illegal aliens children is staggering. From K-12 it costs taxpayers $122,000 for EACH illegal alien student. We've been paying this for decades

*Now city, and state officials are appropriating millions of taxpayer dollars for legal fees to to file law suits and in defense of illegal aliens being deported.

*2012 illegal aliens sent home $62 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin. This is why Mexico is getting involved in our politics.

*30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens. Does not include local jails and State Prisons. At $21,000 per year expense per inmate in Federal Prison---U do the math.

*$3Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens, I repeat 3 MILLION a DAY to process Illegals in the Criminal justice system.

*$2.2Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as SNAP (food stamps),WIC, & free school lunches.

Understand this. The DACA is dead, and the government will be shut down because Trump used an undiplomatic term (sh**holes) to define certain parts of Africa and all of Haiti. He spoke the truth. I sit here in my neighborhood looking out my kitchen window at a real sh**hole across the street. They're everywhere, folks. Look around. You may not like his choice of words but the message is correct. We don't need immigrants from third world countries who come here to feed off our bloated welfare system.
If you are offended by Trump's choice of words, you're a damned hypocrite.

GM, once again false rhetoric doesn’t help your claim. Under Obama, more felon undocumented immigrants were removed PER YEAR than any presidency prior and under the current administration. Under Obama, the rate of illegals dropped significantly using existing protections. The wall has already been proven to be an inadequate deterrent but it gives Trump something to stand in front of to appease his issue illiterate demographic.
...
With your flawed logic continually displayed is there any reason why I shouldn’t call you out for ignorance?

I give credit to $45 for finally actually prosecuting at least small businesses like 7-11 franchises who illegally hire illegal immigrants. By the same token, expanded punishment of illegal employers would be way more effective than our version of the Great Wall of China in reducing illegal immigration. It is the exploitation of those illegals who are willing to work for low wages in unsafe and miserable conditions that helps keep wages down, and things like fresh produce cheap. If weak border security is such a problem, why not immediately the military to lock down the borders and require ALL tourist and other visa holders to have a location chip so they can be deported if they overstay or commit a crime? Oh, and how much more in taxes are you willing to pay to build that wall? What program that benefits you, are you willing to give up?

DoubleBlind says... January 15, 2018 at 10:17 a.m.

GenMac - The only way to prevent those from south of the border from coming here is to enact and enforce laws preventing US employers from hiring anyone undocumented. But crops will die in the field, food prices will soar. Consumers would riot and would never vote for anyone who would let it happen. We either pay public assistance to subsistence workers in exchange for cheap food, or we pay much higher food prices.
