A 29-year-old Arkansan was sentenced to 55 years in prison after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting a teen in 2015, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

Christopher Allen Thornsberry also pleaded guilty to two counts of terroristic threatening and was charged as a habitual offender, according to the newspaper.

The Centerton resident was reportedly arrested in October 2015 on assault charge, then later admitted in court to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

The other charges are linked to a November 2015 incident in which Thornsberry, then a Benton County inmate, threatened to slit the throats of two Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville nurses trying to care for him, the newspaper reported.

The 29-year-old will have to serve 15 years before he is eligible for parole and must abide by a six-year suspended sentence agreement when he is released.
