Central Arkansas woman dies after car spins out on icy highway, hits tractor-trailer

A 62-year-old woman was killed after her vehicle spun out on an icy Arkansas highway and hit a tractor-trailer, Arkansas State Police said.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 8000 block of U.S. 167 North in Sheridan, according to a preliminary report.

Authorities say Dorothiea M. Hyde of Conway was traveling south on the highway when she lost control of her 2011 Nissan Versa on ice, causing it to spin into the path of a tractor-trailer.

Hyde was pronounced dead at the scene by Grant County Coroner Thomas Berchfield, the report noted. No other injuries were noted.

Hyde’s death was one of at least six recorded in traffic crashes so far this year on an Arkansas road, according to preliminary figures.
