Man robbed of car at gunpoint outside Kroger in Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood, police say

A 27-year-old worker at the Kroger in Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood was robbed of his car at gunpoint by an assailant who approached the vehicle in the parking lot late Wednesday night, police said.

The victim told police he was sitting in his Dodge Stratus around 11:40 p.m. outside the grocery store at 614 Beechwood St. when a person he didn't know walked up and asked for directions, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

When the victim turned toward the person, the assailant was pointing a handgun at him, the report said. The robber then ordered the victim to exit his car before he drove off in it on Kavanaugh Boulevard, police wrote. No injuries were reported.

The carjacker was described only as a black male with a medium build who exited a U-Haul pickup before the robbery.

Authorities searched the area but didn't make an arrest.
