— Mike Anderson recaps Wednesdays' loss at Florida and previews Ole Miss:

Mike Anderson

-One thing about conference play is you have to have a short-term memory. We want to get on the right track and play consistent basketball. I have not been happy with our defense. That's the thing I know we've got to hang our hats on.

-We want to be one of the top assist teams in the conference, and we're not. We're not playing as efficient as we were early in the year. This team has got to have more balance.

-Ole Miss has five guys in double figures. They're guard-oriented. It's a team that plays a physical brand of basketball. Our games with them went down to the wire last season.

-Right now Anton Beard and Trey Thompson are questionable. It'll probably be a gametime decision. We've got Gabe and Adrio Bailey. I think you'll see Darious and C.J. on the floor more. We've got to get more bodies out there.

-We'll make the adjustments. When teams figure you out you've got to be able to be unpredictable. Ole Miss likes to run off turnovers and long rebounds. We've got to keep them off balance.

-Daryl has just got to get in transition. When our teams thrive is when other guys score as well. A guy like Daniel, we've got to establish him around the basket.

-It's so strange and weird (free throws) because our guys knock them down in practice. I always say free throws can have a vast effect on a basketball game. We'll continue to work on it with the understanding that they're going to get fouled and have to go to the line. You think about the Florida game, we missed some momentum free throws. You've got to have the confidence to not just knock one down, but both of them down.

-If you get beat by one person you've got to have that second line of defense, but it starts with the guy guarding the basketball. We've got to have multiple efforts and build walls when people are attacking us. It's pretty fundamental, but it requires those second, third and fourth efforts. All it takes is one weak link.

-Gabe Osabuohien is one of those guys that's a great second line defender. He's in position to read and help, and he rebounds in traffic and does some of that dirty work that you want. He's a blue collar guy. He's a good passer and we'll see him play on Saturday.

-Attitude has a lot to do with where you go. I thought even in the game the other night we had better ball movement. We've got to put together a 40-minute game. Guys coming off the bench have to come in, maintain and then take it to another level. That requires a lot of energy, effort and your mindset out there.

-Ole Miss can really shoot the basketball and rebound. We've got to be in attack mode, and whether they're up or they're down they'll keep playing the same way. They're 3-3 in league play and played a tough non-conference schedule.
