61-year-old trucker dies after tractor-trailer travels off Arkansas interstate, hits sign

A 61-year-old trucker died after his tractor-trailer left an Arkansas interstate in West Memphis and struck a sign late Thursday, authorities said.

The single-vehicle wreck happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 55 in Crittenden County, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

Police say the northbound tractor-trailer Rick Limbaugh of West Memphis was driving left the highway and struck a sign before coming to a rest in a field.

Limbaugh suffered fatal injuries as a result, the report noted. No other injuries were reported.

Travel conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

Limbaugh’s death was one of at least eight recorded so far this year on an Arkansas road, according to preliminary figures.
