2 Arkansans killed in wrecks in state

Two men were killed in separate crashes in the state Thursday, according to preliminary reports from Arkansas State Police.

A 61-year-old West Memphis trucker died after his tractor-trailer left Interstate 55 in Crittenden County.

The single-vehicle wreck happened shortly before 11:30 p.m., according to a state police report. The northbound tractor-trailer Rick Limbaugh was driving left the highway and struck a sign before coming to a rest in a field, state police said.

Limbaugh suffered fatal injuries as a result. No other injuries were reported.

Earlier Thursday, a Monticello man died after he struck an oncoming semi-truck while trying to pass another vehicle, state police said.

The crash happened about 2:10 p.m. as Deontra Montreall Ollison, 29, was traveling on Arkansas 530 south of Arrowhead Road in Lincoln County, according to a preliminary report.

As Ollison passed another southbound vehicle in a 1997 Acura his vehicle crashed head-on into a northbound 2017 Volvo semi, police said.

The report listed another person as being injured, but that individual was not named.

The weather was clear and roads dry at the time of both crashes, state police said.
