— Linebacker Andrew Parker has committed to Arkansas after his official visit to Fayetteville this weekend.

Parker, 6-2, 225, 4.56 in the 40, attends Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans. He picked the Hogs over offers from Georgetown, McNeese State and Houston Baptist while drawing interest from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Colorado State and Louisiana-Lafayette.

"WelI I had a great visit first of all,” Parker said. “And I love the fans here. They showed a lot of support. Just the overall atmosphere is pretty good. I’m excited to be committed to the program.”

He said he knew Sunday morning he wanted to commit to the Hogs. Coach Chad Morris was a happy man when Parker told him of the pledge.

"He was happy, he was excited," Parker said.

He recorded 107 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles and 1 recovered fumble while rushing for 275 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries as a senior.

Parker was recruited by defensive coordinator John Chavis and safeties coach Ron Cooper.

"Arkansas took a chance on me,” Parker said. “I’ve been getting recruited by some SEC schools, but they didn't offer me, but Arkansas offered me."

His mother accompanied him and she’s on board with his decision.

"She likes the city and she likes the coaching staff," Parker said.

It appears he's done with recruiting trips.

"I probably won’t take anymore visits," he said.

Parker has a 3.8 grade-point average and looking to major in computer science and computer engineering.
