Oklahoma receiver commitment Treveon Johnson sees Arkansas possibly being a good fit for him after officially visiting Fayetteville this weekend.
"I honestly do, I honestly do," Johnson said. "I can’t say I don’t. It was pretty solid, something I have to take into consideration for real."
Johnson, 6-2, 184 pounds, 4.43 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Brenham, Texas, received a scholarship offer from Arkansas Coach Chad Morris and his staff Dec. 10 to go along with ones from Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Oregon State and others.
He was hosted by senior receiver Jared Cornelius for the trip.
"He kept it real," Johnson said. "It was my first time being down in SEC country, so it was pretty cool."
Johnson said the highlight of the visit was spending time with the coaching staff.
"Honestly, just getting the value with the coaching staff and see everything and understand what they’re looking for, what they’re trying to get me in, what fits me," Johnson said. "I think just being with the coaches was pretty solid this weekend."
He and receiver coach Justin Stepp developed a strong relationship dating back to when he attended a SMU camp as a sophomore. Highly regarded SMU receiver Courtland Sutton was coached by Stepp and attended Brenham High School.
"It’s kind of ironic because fortunately I decided to move my senior year and it’s a big pipeline from them to SMU," Johnson said. "I guess, and coach got to coach him. The success he had with Courtland is something I’m for sure looking for."
Johnson rushed 38 times for 547 yards and 7 touchdowns while also catching 18 passes for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns as a senior. He was impressed with the quality of prospects visiting this weekend
"The people that were on this official, they’re game-changers," Johnson said. "They really were. If some of those guys are making their decision, then it would be pretty obvious for me to consider them myself."
His final decision will probably come around national signing day on Feb.7.
"It’s a thing I have to take time to process," he said. "OU is still solid, but I take into consideration all of the teams I go visit."
