1 killed, 2 hurt in head-on crash on Arkansas highway

An Arkansas man was killed and two other people were injured in a head-on crash Monday night on a highway in the state’s north, police said.

The wreck happened around 8:30 p.m. as Joseph Stephen, 25, of Mountain Home was traveling north on Arkansas 177 in Jordan, according to a report.

Police say Stephen’s northbound 1997 Honda Accord crossed the centerline, causing him to strike a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on the highway.

Stephen suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Two other people were reported injured. They were not named in the report.

Travel conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

Stephen’s death was one of at least 11 recorded so far this year on an Arkansas road, according to preliminary figures.

Jordan, in Baxter County, is around 150 miles north of Little Rock.
