Body found in fire debris

FAYETTEVILLE -- One person was found dead Monday in the debris of a fire at a home near the Wheeler community, said Kelly Cantrell, Washington County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

Firefighters put out the fire at 2:08 a.m. at 17886 Clear Water Road, northwest of Fayetteville. The home was destroyed, Cantrell said. An injured woman was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, she said.

The Sheriff's Office had not released the name of the woman or the deceased by Monday afternoon.

The name of the deceased will be released after the medical examiner makes an identification, Cantrell said. The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.

No cause of the fire has been released. The Washington County Fire Marshal's Office referred questions to Cantrell.

The 2,446-square-foot house belongs to Andrew McClarrinon, according to property records.
