Man, 67, fatally struck by vehicle near Little Rock apartment complex

A 67-year-old man died Sunday after he was hit by an SUV while crossing a street near his home in southwest Little Rock, authorities said.

James Kilgore was struck by a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Wimbledon Loop near an apartment complex south of Baseline Road, according to a Little Rock Police Department report released Tuesday.

Kilgore was taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, police said.

The 47-year-old driver submitted to a drug test, and those results were pending at the time of the report. It listed the Little Rock man's condition as appearing normal. He was not injured in the crash.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

Authorities noted the crash remained under investigation.

At least 10 other people have also died in traffic crashes in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
