North Little Rock police: Man who posted Craigslist ad looking for 'company' robbed at knifepoint of ring, cash

North Little Rock police say a man was robbed at knifepoint Saturday while trying to meet who he thought was a woman he had messaged on Craigslist.

The 29-year-old from Maryland told officers he had corresponded with someone after he placed an advertisement asking for "company" on the website and went to meet that person at a home in the 200 block of Healy Street about 1 p.m.

The man said he knocked on the door of a small building behind the main house. A man estimated to be in his early 20s — described as standing about 6 feet inches tall, weighing 160 pounds and having black hair and a beard with sideburns — let him in, according to the police report.

The stranger was armed with a knife and tried to get the victim to engage in sexual activity, which he refused, the report states. The 29-year-old said the attacker demanded his wallet, and when he couldn't find any cash, he ordered him to give him a gold ring he was wearing, which the report valued at $300.

Then the assailant forced the victim to drive to Centennial Bank, 4308 E. Broadway, and take out $150 from the ATM, then to drive him back to the Healy Street area. The robber left the car with the ring and cash, the 29-year-old told police.

Police identified a possible suspect based on a name that appeared in one of the emails sent to the victim. The 24-year-old listed in the report did not appear on the Pulaski County jail online inmate roster Tuesday morning.
