A North Little Rock teenager led authorities on a high-speed chase until the vehicle she was driving eventually traveled through a fence and crashed into a tree, state police said.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, a state trooper tried to stop a blue 1997 Ford Expedition at the intersection of Arkansas 365 and Arkansas 100 in Maumelle for having a defective tail light, according to a report.

Its driver, 18-year-old Stormie Cotton, failed to stop, instead fleeing at a high rate of speed, authorities said. During the pursuit, she is accused of traveling left of center, running stop signs and driving off the road.

The vehicle later drove through a fence on Kelly Road near Pine Canyon Road in North Little Rock, causing significant damage to it, and crashed into a tree, the report noted.

At one point, Cotton reportedly reached speeds of 102 mph as she tried to evade authorities.

Cotton was arrested around 10:10 p.m. Friday and transported to the Pulaski County jail, where she remained as of Tuesday morning, records show. Bail had not been set.

Cotton's charges include three counts of failure to obey a stop sign as well as individual counts of driving left of center and improper passing.
