Threat report leads to school lockdown

An 18-year-old is accused of threatening to take a gun to a community college Wednesday morning after an argument with another student, authorities said.

Officers responded to a threats call at Northwest Technical Institute, 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale about 9:40 a.m., according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.

Administrators put the school on a brief lockdown until the student who made the threat, later identified as Tyler Hunter, could be located, police said.

Investigators who contacted Hunter reportedly were able to ensure his well-being and determine he was not a threat to the school. Hunter was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct, authorities said.
