A Little Rock man was arrested Thursday after a woman told police he had beaten her and tried to light her on fire, authorities said.

The 22-year-old told officers her boyfriend, Theodis Anderson, 32, forced his way into her Baseline Road apartment about 2 a.m. that day and hit her with a hammer several times, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

Then he poured rubbing alcohol on her, the woman said, and unsuccessfully tried to ignite the liquid with a lighter.

Anderson left after a struggle, the 22-year-old told police, threatening to shoot her before he drove exiting the residence. Her 3-year-old sister was also in the apartment during the attack, she said.

Investigators noted that the woman had cuts on her face and a large bruise on her arm. She was taken to Baptist Medical Health Center for treatment, the report states.

Officers reportedly found Anderson at an Elm Street address and took him into custody about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The 32-year-old faces a second-degree domestic battery charge and was being held in lieu of $25,000 bond at the Pulaski County jail as of Friday morning, records show.
