Police name 4 Arkansans who died in auto wrecks

Three Arkansans died in separate accidents Wednesday and Thursday, according to preliminary reports from Arkansas State Police, who also identified a man killed in a crash earlier this month.

An 80-year-old Moro resident died in St. Francis County after his pickup ran off a state highway and overturned Thursday, state police said.

It happened about 8:50 a.m. as Billy Key was driving a 2005 Ford Ranger north on Arkansas 261 near Palestine, according to a state police report.

Key died as a result of the crash, authorities said.

A 24-year-old Bentonville man was fatally struck by a Freightliner truck Wednesday evening, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard in Bentonville, according to a state police report.

Zachary Zamora "stepped into the path" of an eastbound 2015 truck and was hit, police wrote. No one else was listed as being injured.

A Hackett man also died Wednesday after his car ran off a state highway, struck a culvert and went airborne before coming to a rest, state police said.

It happened about 7:45 p.m. as Dutch Phelan, 35, was traveling east on Arkansas 10 through Sebastian County when his vehicle left the road in Hackett east of Reeves Road, according to a state police report.

The 2001 Dodge then hit a culvert and went airborne, killing Phelan, authorities said.

State police on Thursday identified a Harvey man who was killed in a crash in west Little Rock on Jan. 13.

The wreck happened about 6:40 p.m. as David Kris Williams, 31, was traveling west on Cantrell Road in a 2011 Chevrolet, according to a report.

In the road's 17700 block, an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet suddenly veered to the left, crossing the center turn lane and colliding with Williams' vehicle, state police said.

Williams suffered fatal injuries. Three other people were reported injured, but they were not named in the report.

The weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of all four crashes, state police said.
