Man pleads guilty to exposing himself to children in Northwest Arkansas

An out-of-state man has pleaded guilty to traveling to Northwest Arkansas and exposing himself to children as they walked home from school.

Raymond Adair, 58, of Noel, Mo., entered a negotiated plea on one count of traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct and one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of firearms.

He appeared Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush in Springfield, Mo.

The U.S. attorney’s office for the Western District of Missouri said Adair admitted to traveling from Missouri to Arkansas on May 9, 2016.

Officers with the Bentonville Police Department had received two complaints that day of Adair exposing himself to children as they walked home from school.

One child was walking home from a bus stop, according to the plea agreement.

During a search warrant at Adair’s house May 11, 2016, officers found three rifles as well as more than 12 pounds of marijuana, the attorney’s office said.

Adair faces up to 70 years in federal prison without parole. He must pay a fine of $150,000. A sentencing date has not been announced.
