Teen shot in jaw by rifle wielder in North Little Rock, police say

A 19-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to her jaw after two robbers approached her friend's car in North Little Rock on Saturday night, police said.

An officer responded shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday to Baptist Health Medical Center-Springhill in reference to an aggravated robbery, according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

Ebony Hooker, 19, of Jacksonville, was being treated and reportedly difficult to understand because of her injury.

Hooker told police she was getting a ride from a friend she called "Dez" to Target, 4000 McCain Blvd.

The 19-year-old said the friend pulled over near a gas station close to Arrington Apartments, 6301 Camp Robinson Road. Then, two strangers dressed in all black came up to the passenger's-side door and told Hooker to give them "everything" she had, according to the report.

Hooker said "Dez" tried to drive away but one of the assailants shot her in the face with a rifle.

The teen was said to be in critical condition Sunday. An update from police and the hospital was not available Tuesday afternoon.

At the hospital, a 22-year-old Jacksonville resident approached police and identified himself as the friend Hooker was riding with, according to the report. He told authorities Hooker had asked him to give her a ride to sell marijuana to a stranger at a home on Somerset Drive.

Hooker told an individual who approached her window at the residence that he could get "2 for $25," according to the 22-year-old. The two did not agree on a price, then the stranger backed up and Hooker reportedly told him he could get a "bar," referring to Xanax, for $10.

"No I'm good," the male told the 19-year-old, according to the report. Then another, much taller male came up and shot Hooker with a "long gun," the witness said, adding that he then rushed Hooker to the hospital.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
