A central Arkansas musician has turned the Arkansas Razorbacks' loss in the College World Series into a song that has garnered tens of thousands of views on social media in less than a day.

Matt Sammons of Cabot was inspired to write the song after hearing Luke Combs' country hit "One Number Away" in his car.

"I thought, 'Man, 'One Popup Away' would go great for what we just witnessed,'" he said.

The lyrics developed about half an hour later, Sammons said, and the song was posted to Facebook and YouTube on Monday evening.

"Wrote a little something about our recent struggle in Game 2 at Omaha. Super proud of our Hogs for a great season," he wrote in the posts.

Lyrics include: "Off the bat, in the air, it was foul but in play, we were only one popup away."

In Game 2 of the series against Oregon State last week, the Hogs were on the verge of winning the national championship when a foul ball popped down the right-field line in the ninth inning and was missed by three Razorback players. The Beavers came back to win the game and the series.

Sammons' video had 60,000 views and more than 1,000 shares on Facebook by Tuesday evening, less than 24 hours after it was posted.

The 36-year-old said the song is his first parody, but he's made up lyrics on the fly while playing piano at Willy D’s Rock & Roll Piano Bar in Little Rock for about 11 years.
