Arkansan accused of attacking woman with bat, threatening her with machete after losing bet on Hogs game

A Bella Vista man is accused of attacking a woman with a baseball bat and threatening her with a machete after losing a bet on a Razorback game.

James Lloyd Duncan, 63, was arrested last week on charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening. He is free on $5,000 bond.

Benton County sheriff's deputies went at 3:33 a.m. June 27 to 89 Skyline Drive concerning a fight, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Jessica Rickets told a deputy she and Duncan had made a bet concerning a Razorback baseball game, according to the probable cause affidavit. Rickets told police she won the $20 bet and an argument began when she asked Duncan to pay her the money, according to court documents.

Rickets said Duncan hit her on the legs and stomach, then grabbed a machete and threatened to cut off her head, according to the affidavit.

Deputies saw a baseball bat at Duncan's feet and a machete on the couch next to him when they went to his home, the affidavit states.

Duncan's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 6 in Benton County Circuit Judge Robin Green's courtroom.
