A former employee of Arkansas Children’s Hospital accused of misusing patient information is under investigation, hospital representatives said in a news release.

Hilary DeMillo, spokeswoman for the hospital, said administration was notified the former employee was under investigation May 9. The person was employed from Nov. 7, 2016, to Feb. 6, 2018.

“We were deeply troubled to learn about the alleged actions of this individual, which do not reflect the hospital’s values in any way,” said Erin Parker, vice president of compliance. “As the champions for children in our community, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of behavior, and that includes treating patients, families, and each other with dignity and respect at all times.”

DeMillo said the hospital has audited all accounts that had been viewed while the person was employed and has notified patients who may have been affected. The hospital is also providing credit monitoring and identity protection for patients who may have been affected.

That audit could not definitively confirm whether the former employee accessed information for business purposes or otherwise, the releases states.

Parents concerned about the security of their child’s information can call 1-855-880-9242, DeMillo said. The line is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
