Lecture, tour focus on Mosaic Templars

The Quapaw Quarter Association will present a lecture this week on the history of the Mosaic Templars organization and a tour of the group's headquarters in the city.

Ralph Wilcox, national register and survey coordinator for the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, will speak at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mosaic Templars State Temple building, 501 W. Ninth St.

There will be a 5:30 p.m. reception ahead of the talk.

WWII internments in state topic of film

The Central Arkansas Library System on Friday will present a screening of a film that chronicles the effects of Japanese-American incarceration in Arkansas during World War II.

Relocation, Arkansas will be shown at the Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., from 3 to 5 p.m.

Vivienne Schiffer, the film's director and producer, will take part in the film's introduction and a question-and-answer session. In a Facebook comment, Schiffer said many of the cast members would also be in attendance.

The event is co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service and the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.

Group to hear plans of city candidates

Members of the Coalition of Little Rock Neighborhoods will hear from candidates for mayor and the city Board of Directors next weekend.

Mayoral candidate and state Rep. Warwick Sabin will speak about his plans at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center, 3805 W. 12th St.

City Director Ken Richardson and Rohn Muse, who plans to challenge Richardson for the Ward 2 seat, also will speak.

The coalition also plans to invite candidate Frank Scott Jr. to talk about issues in the mayor's race at its Aug. 11 meeting, along with candidates for Ward 1 city director.
