An Arkansas man faces more than 50 counts of rape after the mothers of two teenage girls reported that their daughters were sexually assaulted.
Joey D. Robbins, 36, of Cherokee Village faces 51 counts of rape, 60 counts of engaging children in sexually explicit conduct for use in a visual or print medium and one count of second-degree sexual assault, records show.
On May 29, authorities responded to a Cave City residence in reference to a report of possible sexual activity involving two teenage girls, according to the affidavit filed June 28 in Sharp County Circuit Court.
The mother of a 13-year-old girl told investigators, citing information from her daughter, that the teen had been forced by Robbins to take and send nude photographs of herself, investigators wrote.
The teenager informed her mother that a second girl, also 13, that she had been staying with was also forced to take nude images, court documents show. Robbins told both they would have their phones taken away if they did not comply, and had purchased "lacy thong panties" for the girls, the affidavit said.
On May 30, the 13-year-old told authorities that “around 10 or 12” photos were taken. She added that Robbins forced her to take her clothes off in front of him and inappropriately touched her on two occasions, investigators said.
The sheriff’s office said that as the victims’ mothers filled out paperwork that day in the agency’s parking lot, Robbins pulled up beside them and started knocking on their window. At that point, authorities were called.
After agreeing to an interview with investigators, Robbins admitted to “making some bad choices” including asking the first girl to send nude images of herself via Snapchat, authorities said.
"Joey stated he kept the photos for a while but has since deleted them off of his phone," according to documents.
Robbins also said in the May interview that he had been having sex “almost on a daily basis for the past two years” with the second girl from the time she was about 10 years old until “about four months ago,” the affidavit said.
That victim was forced to send at least 50 photos and videos of herself naked, the affidavit states.
Robbins remained at the Sharp County jail as of Monday morning, and bail is set at $100,000, records show.
