An Arkansas man was unable to best the three-day defending Jeopardy! champion in an episode that aired Wednesday.

George Holcomb's knowledge of nursery rhyme characters, monkeys and first names in the dictionary helped him earn $6,600 in the first round, which put him in second place.

The self-employed Harrison resident struggled in the second round but managed to maintain his position for the Final Jeopardy question, which asked contestants to name the musical based on a book whose sequels include Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men.

The question, whose correct answer is Wicked, stumped Holcomb, who answered The Lion King.

He wagered $9,201 of his $12,200 sum and ended the day in last place with $2,999.

In Little Rock, Jeopardy! airs at 11 a.m. weekdays on Channel 7, KATV.
