1 dead, 2 hurt in three-vehicle wreck on Arkansas highway, state police say

A 26-year-old was killed and two people were hurt in a three-vehicle wreck on a state highway Thursday evening, authorities said.

The wreck occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Arkansas 83 near Monticello, about 2 miles north of Rose Hill Cutoff Road, according to Arkansas State Police.

A preliminary report stated that 57-year-old Teresa Walton of Pine Bluff was driving a 2016 Dodge Caravan south when the minivan crossed the highway's centerline and hit two northbound vehicles: a 1997 Chevrolet truck and a 2015 Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Chevrolet -- Cody Brockman of Star City -- was killed when the truck rolled over and struck a guardrail.

The report did not say what caused the minivan to cross the centerline.

Listed as injured were Walton and a passenger in the Caravan: 25-year-old Chenzy Miller of Monticello.

Authorities said the road was dry and the weather was clear at the time of the Drew County collision.
